Shibari Notation - Three part course
online or in-person
In this series of evening classes we’ll introduce the Shibari Score Notation System and its applications. It is a graphical notation system for Shibari which is akin to choreography notation for dance or musical notation, yet it is intuitive and easy to learn and apply. Whether swiftly capturing ideas for performances or sessions or noting sequences from workshops with great accuracy, this notation can be of great help. For advanced students, it facilitates the drafting and comprehension of new concepts before trying them out.
This is a chance to communicate, collaborate and note the works that have been done for everyone to read, recreate, write and play with - across borders and language barriers.
This three part series will be a hybrid of online and in-person class. In order to understand the system and be able to use it, you need to attend all three classes.
Please note: in-person participants will be able to get the online link, in case they can't make it to the studio on one or more occasions.
Rough Structure (topics might bleed into each other):
Part 1/3: Fundamentals - Setup
Part 2/3: Sequence Notation for Bamboo and Single Point
Part 3/3: Sequence Creation, Applications, Exercises
